How to download movies using torrents

  • Oct 10, 2007
  • Post a comment

WHAT ARE TORRENTS?

TORRENTS are specialized files utilized in peer-to-peer (P2P)) network environments. P2P is a network of personal computers that communicate with one another by running proprietary P2P software or simply what we call torrent client.

What are the different TORRENT CLIENTS available? .

See the list here….

To make it simple, here’s what you have to do:

1. Get a torrent client. (for example, UTorrent)
2. Go to a torrent site and download the torrent. (for example, www.torrentspy.com then search for the movie title)
3. After you had downloaded the torrent, right click and open it with your torrent client.
4. Downloading will then begin.
5. You need to have the correct media player to play your video because not all videos can be played using Windows Media player.

To see a demo of how it works, click here

>>> DEMO (use IE Internet Explorer to view that page)

Setting up formmail on your website, the easy way!

  • Sep 25, 2007
  • Post a comment

I really don’t know what title to use for this post.

If you’re a beginner and you’re trying to build your website, setting up “formmail” can be quite a task especially for someone like me.

I have limited knowledge of html and javascript and other website thingy (I learn things only through online tutorials, forums, etc) I use a free web hosting acct with no email support. And on top of that, when online people starts to talk about php or whatever term they use, I simply couldn’t find my way back to reality lol!
It took me almost a day before I got to this javascript thing to set up my formmail easily on my own site http://myvideolinks.110mb.com ( a site where you can download movies for free)

Ok, for those who are not so familiar with the term (like me, at first), it is, simply put, a method wherein viewers can send you messages without having to know your email address. They just go to your site and click on either CONTACT US or FEEDBACK FORM or something like that (or whatever you may have set up on your website for them to be able to contact you). That will somehow give you the idea of what I’m talking about.

Their website: http://www.javascript.nu/cgi4free/

I use this javascript thingy FORMMAIL(or whatever you may call it!) on my site http://myvideolinks.110mb.com, so that the people, who are downloading my movies, will have a way to give me feedback or send me messages without having to give out my email address.

The service is good and the mail comes instantly. Try it out yourself! It’s FREE!

How to use Divx web player to stream your own avi/divx videos

  • Sep 25, 2007
  • Post a comment

if you have ur avi/divx video files hosted somewhere else and have DIRECT link to it, you can stream videos (only avi and divx) using the divx web player and embed it to your website.

here is the divx web player code (example)

<object codebase=”http://go.divx.com/plugin/DivXBrowserPlugin.cab” height=”350″ width=”656″ classid=”clsid:67DABFBF-D0AB-41fa-9C46-CC0F21721616″><param name=”autoplay” value=”false”><param name=”src” value=”http://yoursite/.avi” /><param name=”custommode” value=”Stage6″ /><param name=”showpostplaybackad” value=”false” /><embed type=”video/divx” src=”http://yoursite/.avi” pluginspage=”http://go.divx.com/plugin/download/” showpostplaybackad=”false” custommode=”Stage6″ autoplay=”false” height=”350″ width=”656″ /></object>

all you have to do is change the value=“your_direct_download_link” (notice that you have to change it twice, as you can see on the divx web player code above in red)

Please note that this only works, if you have a DIRECT download link to the video.

Usually when you sign up for a free file hosting acct, the DL links are static.

To download a file, clicking on the given link will take you to the file hosting site where you need to click another download link. the 2nd download link is the one that is unstable - meaning, it is a download slot and not a direct link to your files.

Once a download slot is used, their system will generate another download slot for the next downloader. You would be able to download files but you might not be able to use it to stream videos.

Real time HIT COUNTER - try this!

  • Sep 24, 2007
  • Post a comment

If you're setting up a website, whether your a pro or beginner like me, you might want to try this real time HIT COUNTER.

I had been desperately searching for an accurate counter that could tell me exactly how many people are online on my website in real time and couldn’t find any, until I came across WHO’S AMUNG US.

Their widget could tell you how many viewers are online, what page they are on and there’s even a map that shows you where these viewers are! (by the way, the info you see on the map changes as your viewers come and go. There’s no need to refresh the page)  Isn’t that impressive?!

On top of that, they even have a Firefox plug in, so just by looking at your browser, you could immediately see your stats! If you click on the plug in, it pulls up a page to show you the map where your visitors are coming from. So brilliant!

And best of all,  they’re offering it for FREE!

I use it on my website www.myvideolinks.giesecke.tk to see which of the MOVIES I have there are often visited.

Check it out and try it yourself, get your real time counter on   http://whos.amung.us/

Download Managers/Accelerators

Downloading can be frustrating especially if you're you're using IE browser and without a Download Manager. There are times when a short connection interruption cuts you off from the server and you have to start downloading again from the beginning.

Using a Download Manager makes things faster and easier for you to download stuff from the internet. There are a lot of Download Managers that you can get online for free. Let us name a few:

FREE DOWNLOAD MANAGER (FDM) - (my favorite)

Free Download Manager is a full-featured download accelerator and manager. It can resume broken downloads. So you need not start the downloading process from the very beginning after casual interruption. You can resume unfinished download from the moment when it was interrupted. Also this program warns you if resuming isn't supported by the servers. It allows you to make a decision about the downloading.

More information and download on http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

ARIA2 - more information on http://aria2.sourceforge.net/ - download site : http://sourceforge.net/projects/aria2

FLASH GET - is a freeware download manager for Microsoft Windows and works well with IE browser, but it can also integrate with other browsers like Firefox, Opera, Netscape, etc. - official website on : http://www.flashget.com/

DOWNTHEMALL - is another brilliant extension for Firefox.
Read more about it and download on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201

DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR PLUS - again, this is a software download manager for Microsoft Windows.
Read more and download on : http://speedbit.com/

There are yet a number of download accelerator/manager out there. Find one that fits your needs. Personally, I'm using Free Download Manager because it can 'capture' the actual URL of the video that want to download.

Cheers and thanks for reading!

How to download streaming videos

  • Sep 23, 2007
  • Post a comment

More and more people are hooked on watching streaming movies and videos. And a lot of people certainly want to know how to download these videos they see online.

Downloading videos is quite easy if the download links are provided. You just point and click your mouse to it and the process begins. However, there are cases, when these links are not given. Well, I have a few tips that can help you with this.

One way would be to use Firefox browser and install its plug in called Download Helper.

Firefox is a well known browser that offers a lot of useful plugins, extension and even themes. Download Helper is one of them.

DownloadHelper is a free Firefox extension for downloading videos and images from many sites with minimum effort. You can save videos from sites where there is no option to download the movie to your hard disk. It is also possible to capture all the images from a gallery in a single operation.

After you successfully installed Download Helper to your Firefox browser, you would see a small icon on your browser tool bar, which rotates whenever there is a video or file that is downloadable. When it’s rotating, a small arrow on the side appears and you have to click on it to see the file name (not exactly the title of the video). Again, click on the file name and a pop up window will prompt you about if you want to download the file. Before clicking OK, check first where you want to save the file.

    * If the Download Helper didn't show up on your Firefox toolbar, go to your browser VIEW -> TOOLBAR -> CUSTOMIZE and drag the Download Helper icon to your toolbar.

    * When you are on the page where the video is streaming and the Download Helper icon starts rotating, click on the arrow beside the Download Helper icon and it will show a drop down list of the items you can download.

    * choose one that shows flash file (.flv) but you have to press CTRL key while selecting. The actual URL of the file is then copied to the clipboard.

    * open Free Download Manager and this actual URL appears as the URL to download. All I do is add (by typing) .flv to the end of the actual URL (because if you don't, it will download as an index file and not the video.

    * pls note that the 'actual URL' for downloading the video is not the same as the page URL.

    * Once you initiated the download process, then you can do other stuff, close browser, surf to other sites and your download still continues.

NOTE: Download Helper supports numerous video sites however, there are still a few that are not supported. For a list of video sites, click on the Download Helper icon itself.

Downloading movies

  • Sep 23, 2007

When I was first introduced to downloading movies through torrents, I was really amazed by modern technology.
Imagine, the peer-to-peer system? Years ago, you wouldn't even think about such an idea!

Then I started reading a lot about videos and stuff and I've learned that you can even watch full length movies online.
Guess you could say I got really hooked up with these video thingy that I even upgraded my internet connection from a slow 300 something kbps to a faster 2 Mbps connection!

Later, I found out that you could even download these movies faster without having to go through the time-consuming, painstaking effort as we do when we download stuff using torrents. I even learned how to download videos even when there's no download link provided! And not to disregard, the right video player to use for different video formats.

Now, I'm interested more in sharing these videos on my website. yeah yeah yeah, I talk a lot about my site, but that's how I feel! I mean it's like a baby project for me. It's not just the videos, it's the presentation. I am not a website designer nor programmer so don't expect fancy stuff there :D just the videos.

Movie - 1408

sample movie - 1408
Official Website: http://www.1408-themovie.com/
Movie can be downloaded on http://myvideolinks.110mb.com
Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name,
1408 surrounds supernatural writer Mike Enslin, an author of two hit books focusing on supernatural phenomena.
As research for his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room.
With the intention that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumor that Enslin has collected for his past works.
However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin's stay and only warns him of possible danger to come.
But Enslin is determined to go through and convinced that the horrific past of 1408 is just mere coincidence and a myth.
But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon.
